The Septic Tank

Last winter we had a back-up and out in the cold and snow I went to dig up the tank.
Well I'm done with that and just yesterday dug them up one last time and created a well
and cap, so now all I have to do is flip up the cap and there it is!

Come on over to Uncle Bob's Workshop and check out the Instructionals

Update to the 'new mouse trap'

It's been a week so far and the mouse count is up, but the chipmunks just don't like the bait...

I've tried the nuts they're grabbing from the yard, peanut butter, sunflower seeds, grass seed and latest was the pecan paste (read this one was good).

The basic design works!
Bait is a whole 'nother issue...

Dozen and a half field mice
2 Chipmunks

The 'yard test' is not over....

Instructionals

I added a new section to Uncle Bob's Workshop called Instructionals!
I decided to add a Tool Box Section, explaining the 'basic' items everyone should have in their tool box.
The second is the Basic Power tool section, again just the 'basic' items we all should have.

With both of these, you can now complete any of the Projects I have listed!

Check out the site and the new areas!

A new mouse trap

2 Oct 2011
Besides getting this blog site setup, I decided to work on my Chipmunk problem in the yard.
I've built my first trap and in 'pure' Uncle Bob fashion, it has to be simple and easy to build.
Most of all, it has to work!

I'm not exactly a purest when it comes to ridding my yard of pesty rodents, with extreme prejudice,  but in the spirit of things, I decided to build something that will work either way.

It's in the yard now for testing and so far it's captured 3 field mice and only a curious chipmunk.
Need to work on better bait for I know the system works!

Though not opposed to shooting the pests, my neighbors prefer I refrain...
Poison is out... just don't know were they crawl up and die.
That smell can be worst than the damage they do... especially if in the house..

Simple design, one moving part and took me an hour to make it up.
Prefect Uncle Bob Project!

If you think I'm being harsh, check this out this product!
Have to tell ya... I like the way these guys think, just not Uncle Bob style.

Once 'yard proven', I'll put it up on the website.

Finally some response!

30 Sept 2011

Okay, so first response was "I'm looking for plans to build a machine that prints real money.
Can you help Uncle Bob?".

Well, we all have one! It's called a computer.

The problem here is that our goverment has worked out a way with specific paper (we can not buy), special ingraving (close to impossible to copy), and special coloring that makes it near impossible to copy.

In other words, the only folks capable for printing 'real' money is 'our goverment'.

Problem is, there doing it way too much and for reasons that would put any of us in jail if we did it for the same reasons...

Conclusion;  Don't attempt it!

Second was a way to make Whiskey.

Well... I've been down this road and it's rather easy, but illegal...
For some strange reason we can produce 200 gallons of wine & beer for personal comsumption, but we'll go to jail for making a drop of clean spirits.
If you think about the amount of sugar going into the wine or beer and the contribution it has to diabeties, you have to wonder why we can produce those, but not a 'clean spirit'....
Conclusion;  Don't attempt it!

Bring it on folks. Uncle Bob is ready!

Uncle Bob's Workshop

Went live 2 days ago

    29 Sept 2011

Well, we went live just 2 days ago! I did post the Septic Vent Birdbath on Ebay, but no response to it as of yet... Guess I need to learn how to make it more visible. Only 4 visitors so far :>(... to the site... need to make this more visible too.

I also noticed that Google brought up this other Uncle Bob... not me... anywhere! Not sure what's going on there either.

Introduction to Uncle Bob's Workshop

   27 Sept 2011

creation of Uncle Bob's Workshop

I've been a carpenter going on 38 years. I've been involved with all aspects of home construction including design and supervision. For a period of time, I owned and operated my own construction company and now am currently employed as a Finish Carpenter Foreman in the Boston area. Walk into any of the 'high end' foyer's in and around Boston and chances are 'we' did it!

I am married with quite an extended family and have been known as 'Uncle Bob' to all the kiddo's, whether friend or family, old or young for as long as I can remember. Always enjoyed the term of endearment and have come up with something new for the kids, of all ages, to have some fun with each time we get together.

My attention has always been towards building vs buying. There is a point of pride associated with actually doing it yourself, not to mention the cost savings. My intent with this site is to educate others to this ideal and pass along a few projects I have proved to work. Of course there's a monetary reason as well. Uncle Bob is heading towards retirement and it would be nice if this turned into a supplementary income.

It has been 2 years of saying I will do this. I'm happy to see it's finally up! Still lots to learn about this website stuff, but it's a start.http://unclebobsworkshop.info
